Sony TV

Review Date: March 8, 2010
Reviewer: D. Thompson, texas
This is a great product and simple to use. It comes ready to go and easy to setup. If you have a home theater system it wouldn't be bad to install also because the volume is not that loud. Overall, I am pleased with Sony and Amazon again.
Best TV I've Ever Purchased

Review Date: February 16, 2010
Reviewer: J. E. Reynolds, USA
Ok, I'll make this short and sweet. At least I'll try to.
Here: find the positive reviews, and listen to them. Ignore the negative reviews.
Still want to hear more? Fine. I warned you.

I worked for Sony for a few years, and if it wasn't for their inflated pricing, everything in my house would have a Sony logo on it. Then this TV came along.
Here's a not-so-secret suggestion: Purchase a Sony TV around Super Bowl time- you'll combine retailer's Super Bowl sales with the timing of old models clearing out. Seriously, you want to pay $300-600 more to have a 2010 vs a 2009 TV? I want your paycheck.

I worried a bit about it only being 60 Hz for as large as it is, thinking the size would magnify any ghosting or lag. Negative- maybe if I was watching a SD signal over rabbit ears. Hooked this beauty up to an HD satellite signal, and have been watching the NBA All-Star stuff, and fast-paced Olympic events with ZERO lag or ghosting. Sweet.

A couple people commented on viewing angle? Puhleeze. It's awesome.

Ok, news flash: the sound isn't stellar...but it's not really better or worse than other LCD TVs I've owned. And who cares? I have everything hooked up to my receiver. I'm not about to own a 52" TV and not take advantage of the home theater experience.

I didn't think I'd like 2 of the HDMI connections on the side, but I'll admit it's a heck of a lot easier connecting everything when it's mounted on the wall. (Hint: use a Cheetah Mounts APTMM2B Tilt Wall Mount for 32"-55" Plasma and LCD TVs and Displays, it was a great deal).

All in all, I was pleasantly surprised to see the Sony among the least expensive in that size range. Ok, so I got a killer deal, but still! With as nice as this LCD is, it's hard to imagine it being the 'bottom' range of their lineup. It's a Sony TV. Enough said.
Great Price & Picture!

Review Date: February 11, 2010
Reviewer: Mary C,
Purchased this for $1050 Jan. 2010 and have no complaints. Great picture, good sound, all around easy set up. I was concerned about motion blur as this is not 120hz or more, but no one at our Superbowl party could see any motion issues. The price has dropped so much (was $1800 in June) it's a steal. No problems with viewing angles, and we had a packed rooms for superbowl. This 52" is in our FR and provides a good view from all seats. We have 2 96" sofas and a swivel chair all ranging from 9-11 feet away from the screen, placed in a U configuration. Check it out in-store if you are not certain, bet you'll buy one!
Sony does it again

Review Date: February 3, 2010
Reviewer: Curt Harrington,
As with any TV you really do need a sound system to bring this set to life. I love the picture despite what I have read about dimming. I brought home a 52S4100 a few weeks ago and wasn't thrilled. This 5100 displayed scenes of Yosmite as if you were there. My 10 year old XBR 40" now seems unwatchable.
Did not like the picture quality - ended up taking it back

Review Date: January 23, 2010
Reviewer: Ryan Stille, Nebraska
I bought this TV based on the price and all the great reviews. I didn't think it looked that great in the store but I thought it was probably just their input signal.

I had this TV in my home for 3 weeks and finally ended up taking it back. I had read that LCD's no longer had viewing angle problems, but this one does. It looks good from directly in front of it, but from the sides it looses contrast badly. I wasn't impressed with the black levels either.

I ended up getting a plasma and am much happier. The picture looks the same from any viewing angle with a plasma.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

HDTV Size chart
With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.
  • Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
  • Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

5 Things to Do Before Buying an HDTV

ice and the quality of images

The price of the HDTV as all technologies, in the final analysis, has fallen considerably since their launch. Even today, you always see a perceptible price difference when you press the electronic local shop. Why you ask? It is a quality pictures and reliability. Also, some brands have acquired a solid reputation as producers of screens and bright, sharp, but you will pay more for the brand recognition.

The latest mainstream forato in HD technology offers a speed of 120 Hz is twice the rate of one standard interlaced TVs update. More reduced blur on LCD TV update frequency instances (as above).

Cinema fans take note: TV with the frequency of 60 Hz standard interlaced 30 half screen refresh refresh times per second and the other half 30 times per second, for a total of 60 times. Since movies are shot at 24 frames per second and television is refresh 60 times per second, images and update rate difference causes film shot on film appear to burst.

To alleviate this problem, the TV producers uses a 3: 2 pulldown named technology that integrates the alignment of the refresh rate and frequency frames. TVs that use a 120-hertz-refresh rate or frequency of State – of – art nouveau – update even 240-hertz update not only more often, but 24 frames per second film evenly divides the refresh rate and the image appears on the screen without the use of 3: 2 pull-down softer.

If you look at a large number of films, it update frequency probably worth the money to get a TV with at least a 120 Hz.

Factors to Consider on Choosing LCD Tvs

Posted by | Posted in Article about LCD HDTV | Posted on 28-09-2009

There are several factors that need to be aware when you go for an LCD TV to choose from. The price and size are the most important of these factors. It might be difficult for all terms used when one is aware of LCD televisions, but once they started to hear these terms, you will see that just a little '. When choosing an LCD television, you should first think of the space available to them. Is your house big enough for a mass TV or not right? Of course, you must also consider whether you want a great or not. Some people do not want to, despite the vastness of his home that the television a lot. To help with the decision on the size of the TV, first you should measure the space in your house, where the TV is placed. Based on this knowledge, you already know how great TV can be put up. You must also take into consideration the placement of furniture in our house. Your guests can watch TV programs of this? If not, then you should redesign the layout of things in your home. It 'always a better way. Next, measure the distance of the seats allocated to the public from the TV. TV needs with a minimum of 35 centimeters should be placed 10 meters away from the seats, while the larger ones have more. To illustrate, with a television 60 inches must be 15-20 meters away from the viewer otherwise might damage their attractiveness in the eyes. Consider also the point of view, that is, the corner is where the TV from the side directly opposite the image quality are observed begins to crumble. Some models of TV viewing angles are better than others. Also, remember that even consider the need to improve the image quality. The image must be that you're wanting. Then return to the screen size. The size of one, and can accommodate up? The optimum size will always depend on your needs and not on other types of televisions in the store. Choose a television, the anti-reflection coating, when the light comes from outside is not so great. But remember that all TVs are affected by light in spite of their species. There is no exception. Setting your room in which to place your TV, do not forget to keep in mind dass Normally, when talking about LCD TVs, HDTV is inevitably a part of the conversation. If you like having HDTV, then choose a LCD TV with HDTV. E 'as heating, two birds with one stone! Is not it incredible? The price of the TV depends on their properties. Before buying, I also suggest you do some research. This will help you in choosing the TV you want. Among the LCD TV, Sharp and Samsung are the two main competitors are similar. Despite this, there is no difference if you buy this or that. Find simple, which will be best for you. ———————- Read more articles on LCD televisions, check Erratic World Site.
